Ironman arrives to Marbella on 29 April 2018.
All people known that Marbella has always been united to sport, either by the uncountable sport activities that are developed throughout the year in the municipality or by its wide range of sport. Moreover, it could be said that “sport” is one of the most important values of Marbella and San Pedro Alcantara. Good proof of this, the thousands of tourists who visit us to enjoy our golf courses, tennis schools, etc… And, most importantly, the countless local sport clubs made up of citizens and residents. It is for all that, the organizing company of triathlons “Ironman” has selected Marbella for the development of the Ironman 70.3 on 29 April 2018. With this, Marbella will become the fourth city of Spain Which will host an Ironman 70.3 after Mallorca, Lanzarote and Barcelona.
The race will begin with the 1,900-meter swimming segment at a single lap at sea, departing from the Levante beach of Puerto Banús. The 90 kilometers of the cycling sector will start on the famous ‘Golden Mile’, before crossing the city of Marbella, the Port of Ojén and crowning the legendary ‘Caracolillos’. The athletes will pass through Monda, Coin and Cartama before returning to the transition, located in Puerto Banus. The foot race comprises two rounds. The half marathon will take place along the seafront of Marbella, with the goal located in the sand of the beach of Puerto Banus. The sum of these distances are 113 kilometers, approximately, 70.3 miles, hence the name of the test.
